The northeast corner of the 16th Street BART Station is set to get a brand new face lift, courtesy of Maximus Real Estate Partners and architects Skidmore Owings & Merrill.
According to the SF Business Times, the new project will demo a bunch of buildings and a surface parking lot in favor of a new 10-story 400,000 sq.ft. mixed-use development with 351 housing units and 32,000 sq.ft. of retail. In addition to an interior courtyard, the plan also includes plate glass store fronts that would wrap around the BART plaza, in hopes of cleaning up some of the crime in the area. The development plan was quietly submitted to Planning this past week, so there’s very little info and no renderings yet, but we’ll keep you posted as soon as some images become available.
